About Saltwood Studio

Saltwood Studio is my small woodworking studio in Torbay, Newfoundland, where I make handcrafted keepsake boxes one at a time from solid hardwood.

What began as a love of woodworking has grown into a small business focused on pieces made to hold the things people don't want to lose — photographs, letters, wedding memories, family keepsakes and other reminders of important moments.

I work primarily with walnut, maple and cherry, using traditional box-joint construction and carefully selected hardwood. From milling the lumber and cutting the joinery to engraving and final finishing, each box passes through my hands from start to finish.

I’m Brendan Hanlon, the maker behind Saltwood Studio. My goal is simple: to make something beautiful, personal and durable enough to be kept for years.
